Group Ride Etiquette

  • Always be aware of your surroundings:
    • Call out holes and obstructions to the group.
    • Call out vehicles to the group.
    • Know where your follow group riders are in relation to you.
  • Be Safe in the group:
    • Maintain a steady and consistent line and pace.
    • DO NOT overlap wheels with the rider in front of you.
    • Hold your line, be predictable, make people aware of your intentions.
    • No more than 2 abreast in a group and keep gaps to a minimum.
    • When you’re done with your pull flick your elbow and pull over
    • DO NOT slow down and then flick your elbow and pull off.
    • Signal your intentions to slow, stop, and turn.
  • Be safe around vehicles:
    • Plan on stopping at stop signs, be prepared to put your foot down!
    • DO NOT circle out into the road and back at stop signs. Put your foot down and hold your place in line.
    • Stay in your lane when making turns, DO NOT CUT THE CORNERS IN THE OTHER LANE!
    • Avoid riding in the lane of oncoming traffic.
    • Avoid pulling off to drop back when a vehicle is approaching from behind or front.
    • When stopped for a flat or mechanical, get off the paved surface (everyone).
It’s ok to sit in back rather than rotate through.  Either to watch and learn, or to avoid going too deep and falling off because you can’t recover.
